Historically, they held an essential role in the ancient civilizations of the Mayans and Aztecs, not only as a staple in diet but also for their medicinal properties. These cultures utilized cacao in various ways, believing it to have stimulating and restorative qualities. In herbal medicine, cacao was valued for its potential to boost energy, enhance mood, and support heart health. While today cacao is best known as the primary ingredient in chocolate, modern research continues to explore its health benefits. Cacao is rich in flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties. Our whole cacao beans are unprocessed and dried at a low temperature in order to preserve the most beneficial properties from the edible seed as possible.*
