Red raspberry leaf contains a high amount of vitamins and trace minerals that support a healthy immune system and cellular process, while nourishing the blood. This herb contains a rich assortment of vitamins including b vitamins, calcium, iron & magnesium. Raspberry leaf contains antioxidants to protect against free radical damage and is also very high in iron which can help to support the body with anemia. This herb is known as a women's herb with a long history of use assisting in pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum recovery. It has been used in midwifery to help reduce nausea (morning sickness), improve the effectiveness of contractions at birth, help reduce pain during and after birth by toning the uterine muscles & pelvic floor before labor & delivery, support balanced hormones in postpartum and to assist with breast milk supply.
Nettle leaf is another very nutrient dense herb. It’s high in iron, vitamins A, C, K, calcium, potassium and often used as a source of folic acid (an essential nutrient during pregnancy). Nettle helps strengthen the kidneys and adrenals, while relieving fluid retention. Nettle nourishes & tonifies the blood and the vascular system. It helps to strengthen arterial elasticity and aids in hypertension, in some cases may reduce the risk and severity of problems such as preeclampsia that may appear later in pregnancy. This herb also contains hemoglobin and vitamin K, which are known to reduce the risk of postpartum hemorrhage.
Oatstraw & Oat tops are wonderfully gentle nervines to help nourish the nervous system. It helps promote a sense of calm, which takes pressure off the adrenals and into a place of rest and digest (rather than fight or flight). Oat tops, have restorative qualities to promote physical strength. Nutrients include vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, E, K, calcium, iron, magnesium and so on. This is the strongest herb around for magnesium. These herbs are considered nutritive builders. For those in a more fragile or weakened body state, they can help support in weight gain and potentially aid in building the body from nutrient deficiency. Oats & oatstraw promote less stress and a deeper rest when you need it most.
Sweet Melissa, otherwise known as lemon balm, is a gentle & uplifting herb for many. It helps to relax our nervous system, supporting the mind and body in times of tension or anxiety. Lemon balm is noted for it's antiviral properties which can be helpful in times of cold or flu and can also act as a digestive aid & carminitive. It's often used to help enhance the mood and let even more light in.
