Make your own Elderberry Syrup (Herb Pouch)

Elderberry syrup is a long-standing & well-loved natural remedy for the common cold, flu and sinusitis symptoms. Studies show elderberry preparations hold important antiviral properties. They can boost and activate the immune system for a stronger inflammatory response. This helps improve symptoms such as nasal congestion and supports recovery, but may also shorten the length of respiratory infections by 2 to 4 days. Elderberry syrup acts as a decongestant and may help to reduce allergy symptoms.

Black Elderberries are widely known for their immune boosting & anti-viral properties. This powerhouse of antioxidants can help support the body through issues such as the common cold, influenza, cough and allergies. Elderberries are rich in flavonoids and high in vitamins A & C, bioflavonoids, betacarotene, iron and potassium. Elderberry is beneficial to the respiratory system by protecting and supporting the upper respiratory tract. Elderberry helps to reduce the swelling in mucous membranes and addresses difficulties related to sinus drainage. Elderberries also act as a mild anti-inflammatory.

Ginger root contains anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibacterial and anti-viral properties. Ginger can help ease pain in the body and reduce irritation/inflammation or other discomforts caused by a cold or flu. It's expectorant properties help loosen the mucus from lungs and sinuses. As a diaphoretic, ginger root helps to warm the body to promote sweating to flush out toxins. Its antispasmodic properties may help to reduce stomach cramping if flu symptoms are present.

Clove helps boost the immune system and aids in digestion. Rich in antioxidants, cloves have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial properties.

Cinnamon creates movement in the sinus cavities when sinus congestion is present. Cinnamon is rich in antioxidants and has both antibacterial & anti-inflammatory properties.

Raw Honey contains antibacterial, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. Many studies have shown that it is effective at fighting both external and internal infections. Honey soothes the throat and acts as a cough suppressant. (Most of the honey you find in grocery stores is pasteurized. The high heat kills unwanted yeast, can improve the color and texture, removes any crystallization, and extends the shelf life. Many of the beneficial nutrients are destroyed in the process.)
